D1006 Western Stalwart on arrival at Paddington with the 'Birmingham Pullman' on April 11, 1963.

Peter Kerslake says "No steam about but D 1023 "Western Fusilier" makes a fine picture in the splendid confines of Paddington after arriving into platform six with the Pullman service from Birmingham.
One of the thirty of the class built at Swindon this locomotive was condemned in late February of 1977 with the distinction of having been the last of a total of sixty nine of her class by the late 'sixties to be fitted with dual air and vacuum braking systems and also being the final "Western" to be overhauled at Swindon Works."
