Jim Carter often photographed the locos that he was rostered to so he could be firing 92223 that day and therefore the night shot was upon his return. However locos away from home often were often borrowed for a few days (if they were a 'good un') so this is pure conjecture. The presence of the Black Five 44950 out in the yard sporting an 8C Speke shed plate that tells us that this is after September 1964 when it moved there from Blackpool Central, which makes me suspect the 9F is either newly allocated to Saltley in November 1966 and has yet to receive the correct shed plate, or more likely running in following its Light Casual overhaul at Crewe Works from 25th July to 8th September 1966.
