BR 9F 2-10-0 No 92003 in front of the workshops and traverser at Ebbw Junction shed on 13 March 1954.

Peter Kerslake says "92003, seen here was the fourth of the "9F's" built at Crewe in 1954 and was allocated from new to the Western Region as the first ten numbered 92000 to 92009 were intended for use on iron ore workings and planned to be housed at Newport Ebbw Junction.
The enginemen there soon found fault with their new acquisitions, comparing them unfavourably with their long serving trusty and hard worked former G.W.R. Heavy Tank engines and complaining that the brakes and regulators of the Standards were unsatisfactory.
The "9F's" time in Wales was accordingly cut short, the last two never got there at all, and the earlier ones went to pastures new, including Bristol St. Philips Marsh."
