This 1966 view inside the cavernous York MPD shows that by this time there is not a hint of either the NER nor LNER origins of the shed. I can also confirm that, at least on a Sunday, you could walk round the shed without the slightest hindrance or challenge. To a seventeen year old enthusiast, this was a paradise of light and shade, steam and oil and the cooling creaks and hisses of locomotive boilers ... sigh!
