92079 1961-03 Lickey
The 9F with an old and young admirer In days past there was a little wooden observation area part way up the Lickey , a favourite spot for enthusiasts especially on holidays and weekends , and I think that it may still be there today , but the whole area is so overgrown now that it's difficult to spot it from a passing train . There's clearly a bit of trespassing going on here as both old and young are well outside the permitted area as Big Bertha's initial replacement , 92079 gets to grips with the two mile slog up to Blackwell. A number of Standard 9F's took over when 58100 was withdrawn in 1956 , and 92079 seen here has not yet been fitted with Big Bertha's massive headlamp but she did get it later.
