92167 1968-05 South Road, Bare

I was just two months shy of my eighteenth birthday in May 1968. My grandparents lived at Bare, a curiously named suburb of Morecambe. I had been to stay with them with the intention (achieved!) of visiting Carnforth Shed to hopefully see any remaining steam workings in the area. To my great surprise, I heard (before I saw) Class 25 No. D5168 and '9F' No. 92167 leaving Morecambe and passing under the bridge that crossed South Road in Bare where I was waiting for a bus.
The pair were heading towards Bare Lane Station and would join the WCML a mile or so beyond. It appeared to me that the train engine 92167 was doing a great deal more of the work than was the Class 25 diesel! The train was the Heysham to Teesside (I think) oil tanker working but I am not certain of their onward route. 92167 was built at Crewe in May 1958 and D5168 was a product of Darlington in December 1961. They would be withdrawn in June 1968 and November 1976 respectively.
