92062 was the third 9F eventually allocated to Tyne Dock , the initial batch of 92060 to 92066, built at Crewe from late 1955 being followed by a further three , namely 92097, 92098 and 92099 the following year. Distinctive by their twin Westinghouse Air Pumps, the batch was intended for use on the heavy iron ore workings between Tyne Dock and the Consett steel works . The pumps were provided for the operation of the air operated side doors on the bogie iron ore wagons when unloading at the steel works.
