A lime-stained Saltley 9F 2-10-0, No.92057, heads a train of concrete tubes loaded into ex LMS 3 plank dropside wagons towards Washwood Heath in late 1963. Bromford Bridge signalbox is just visible on the right hand platform and Fort Dunlop with its tower and flagpole is in the centre background. Ed Purcell adds The photographer is actually standing on the Bromford platform and the (exMR style) signalbox is about 50 yards behind his position. There was a loading bank (possibly 2nd platform for busy race days?) between the photographer and the signals in the distance on the loop. The building visible on the right, as I recall, was not the signal box but a pw / workers cabin - one of the standard LMS types. The end of the platform ramp on which the photographer is standing is visible left centre bottom of the shot. Is that a 4F and train waiting on the slow road? Permissive block working on this line saw a continuous line of goods trains along here heading for Washwood Heath - many pulled by 4Fs
