A photograph confirming that the 9F 2-10-0s could be, and were, rostered on express passenger duties with Crewe built 92089 which entered service in late 1956. Whilst primarily designed for heavy freight workings the powerful and free running 9Fs were capable of handling passenger workings, with Western Region members of the class being rostered on passenger duties when needed, especially on heavily loaded Summer Saturday trains from Paddington to the West country .
