The picture was taken while it was shedded at Wellingborough, between November 1959 and September 1962 when it moved to Toton. All three of the mail lifts are visible in this picture. The one on the left is for the Down line below, the one on the right is to the Up platform below and the third which is just visible in the centre above the chimney of the �9F� is also for the Down line. The main postal traffic flows were between the northbound Bristol-Birmingham-Derby and the West Coast main line and vice versa; the flows between the southbound Trent Valley line and the northbound Bristol-Derby and vice versa were smaller.
