67688 1959-11-27 Norton

The morning Middlesbrough-Newcastle parcels has been stopped at Norton South’s down ex-NER starter signal (soon to be replaced), due to Norton East having allowed a freight to enter the branch. The culprit can be seen ahead, travelling towards Norton West. The parcels train will soon be on the move again, headed by Gateshead’s V3 No 67688. The date is 27th November 1959. Within 4 weeks the NER signal had been pulled down and the new tubular post signal had taken its place.
