GCR A5 4-6-2T No 69807 with the 1.26pm to Nottingham Victoria on arrival at Sutton in Ashfield Central on 31 December 1955.

This was the last day of scheduled passenger services. The stations remained in use for several years thereafter for excursion traffic, Largely to the East Coast but also included the Farnborough Flyer and Schoolboy Football internationals at Wembley.
