The elegant bulk of John Robinson's '9N' (LNER 'A5') class for the GCR continued to be built by the LNER after the grouping. Their original GCR 'stamping ground' was then extended to other regions, which is why we see 69839 allocated to Darlington MPD. Photo dated May 1955.
