The 44 ex-Great Central Railway Robinson '9N' (LNER 'A5') 4-6-2 Tanks are widely regarded as an excellent design and their construction from 1911 was continued by the LNER until 1926. Many were used for over 30 years on London suburban services from Marylebone but the class became more widespread latterly. This October 1953 view finds 69803 in the yard at Boston MPD in Lincolnshire.
