4549 1959-05-16 Minffordd
GWR 45XX 2-6-2T No 4549 arrives at Minfford with a train from Portmadoc on May 16, 1959.
Peter Kerslake says "The cameraman was on the bridge of the Festiniog Railway and looking westwards towards Portmadoc showing well the 1 in 50 gradient up to Minfford with the goods siding on the left ith its sharply curved trackwork.
The delightful wooden shelter has a ticket office at its far end and the nineteen lever frame signal box is also visible.
In the far left background is the Minfford Quarry which provided granite for the Cambrian line, traffic from there being handled by an engine and brake van from Portmadoc. The guard was also responsible for working the points from the quarry on to the steeply graded main line."
