Approaching High Santon at the top of Appleby Bank between Scunthorpe & Barnetby.

David J Hayes says "An interesting motive power combination on what appears to be a block train of tankers used for the conveyance of Anhydrous Ammonia. Such flows to and from North Lincolnshire once ran between Ince & Elton to Barton-on-Humber (this used to be routed via Woodhead) and from Immingham to Avonmouth (Severn Beach). The last mentioned was also served from Teesside (Haverton Hill). Anhydrous Ammonia movements from Teesside also included workings to Barton-on-Humber, which may explain this odd pairing, especially if the presumably failed Class 40 was a Thornaby machine".
