DMU 1962-05-19 Clifton Bridge
BR DMU forms the 5.45pm to Portishead at Clifton Bridge on 19 May 1962.
Peter Kerslake says "With Mr Brunel's Clifton Suspension bridge towering high above the Avon Gorge this view includes the wooden pontoons on the far side of the river and below the Portway road, used in past years by passengers boarding or alighting from paddle steamers on the Avon, and it's avery low tide here today.
The Portishead branch dated back to a broad gauge line there in 1867, later in 1927 extended to serve the initial Portishead power station with a second power station constructed after the last war together with a new passenger and freight facility introduced in 1954.
Passenger services on the branch ended in September 1964."
