2271 1959c Afon Wen

GWR 2251 0-6-0 No 2271 has just arrived at Afon Wen with a train from Pwllheli. I'd say after looking at the STT for this period it is the 10.25 am all stations to Dovey Junction.

Peter Kerslake says "This view of Afon Wen, the important junction on the Cambrian with the former LN.W.R. line to and from Caernarvon, Chester and the North, shows the main station buidings built on an island platform with access aprovided by the lattice footbridge just visible behind the main building.
The large 75 lever signal box, the largest on the coast, is seen on the left together with the twin water towers necessary to replenish engines and in constant demand especially on busy weekends in the summer months."
