65857 1952-08-28 Selby Station

65857 1952-08-28 Selby Station

Ex-North Eastern Railway Worsdell 'J27' class 0-6-0 No. 65857. Built by Beyer Peacock & Co. of Manchester in August 1908 as NER No. 1229 and withdrawn in April 1963. The coaling tower of Selby MPD alongside the lines to Leeds, is just visible above the magnificent Selby station sign. It's a fine August day in 1952 and 65857 has come off shed and is probably heading for Barlby sidings a mile or so beyond the station over the River Ouse swing bridge crossing.
