5193 1956-05-01 Laira triangle
This is an evening shot as St. Blazey allocated 5193 waits for permission to come off Laira shed to work back down into Cornwall on a freight. The corrugated iron hut houses the telephone which the fireman of an engine coming off shed would use to get permission from the signalman at Lipson Junction to come up on to the lines in the foreground, the Southern lines to and from Friary, from where the engines would run up to Lipson Junction , out of the picture on the left. The River Plym is in the background, with the southern flanks of Dartmoor visible on the horizon and Saltram Park on the far side of the Plym in the right background.
