Ex-Midland Railway Johnson '2P' class 4-4-0 No. 510. Built by Sharp Stewart & Co. of Glasgow in November 1899 as MR No. 2428 and withdrawn in June 1949 still as LMS No. 510.

The contrast between the cavernous gloom of New Street's overall roff and 510 nosing out into the sunshine makes a lovely image in October 1937. This particular '2P' gave very good value for money with half a century of service behind her when withdrawn in 1949.
