LMS Stanier '3P' class 2-6-2 Tank No. 137. Built at Derby in October 1935 and withdrawn in November 1962 as BR No. 40137. A delightful gallery of period posters greet 137 as it arrives in Motherwell Station in August 1938. The '3P' tanks were not one of Stanier's better designs and a poor steaming boiler was at the heart of their weakness. Nonetheless most gave almost 30 years service, handling lesser duties throughout the LMS and BR steam eras.
