A fine portrait of a 'Crab'. The Hughes/Fowler 2-6-0s proved difficult for both the LMS and BR to classify! They began as 'Class 4', later '5P4F', later still '6P5F' and finally '5MT'. Take your pick! Their Horwich meets Derby lineage is evident perhaps more so than any other LMS era design. Here is LMS No. 2803 (previously 13103) receiving some 'TLC' at Motherwell MPD in August 1938. She was withdrawn in December 1966.
