3229 1912 Wolverhampton
GWR 3226 class 2-4-0 No 3229 at Wolverhampton in 1912.
Peter Kerslake says "One of the six members of the "3226" class, 3229 had been allocated to Wolverhampton since the previous year, before moving to Stourbridge and lasted in service until late 1916.
Built at Wolverhampton Works in April 1889, the class was an updated version of the 1863 "111" class and whilst the first three, namely 3226, 3227 and 3228 were allocated in their early years to Worcester and Hereford, the remaining three were at Wolverhampton and also at Chester. Later years took the six further afield to Bristol, Banbury and Didcot until the first to be condemned went to the breakers in late 1914 whilst 3231, the last of the class, survived until late 1922.
