1490 1898 Bath Spa

1490 1898 Bath Spa

The unique GWR 4-4-0PT No 1490 at Bath Spa station in 1898. This was the first pannier tank built by the Great Western, entering service in October 1898. It was too heavy and not successful and was sold in 1907 to the Ebbw Vale Iron Co. and then in 1908 to the Brecon & Merthyr Railway as No.35. They sold it in March 1916 to Cramlington Coal Co. who scrapped it in 1929.
