E407 1930 Axminster
LSWR L11 4-4-0 No E407 arriving at Axminster in 1930. This can't be any earlier than summer 1930 because the virtually new Maunsell brake composite No 6648 to the right with the 'high' corridor fixed-lights, was delivered in March-April 1930. It also shows exactly why the end-most window was kept at the low height (to accommodate the coach 'letter' board right above it). This coach was not part of a fixed rake but a 'loose' vehicle which would have been used singly or occasionally in pairs, as through coaches to the Devon and Cornwall branches, here it is off to Lyme Regis.
