The powerful and impressive lines of 10001 are shown to advantage in this view , recorded on film during the locomotive's spell spent away from its Camden Depot and during its two years at Nine Elms on the Southern Region which saw it and its sister 10000 both working on Southern territory from April of 1953 until March of 1955 .
During that period both 10000 and 10001 were primarily rostered to duties between Waterloo and Bournemouth , in addition to workings to both Weymouth and Exeter Central , but failures were common and frequent , and the locomotives eventually went back home to Camden thereafter returning to their former passenger duties from Euston on the West Coast main line in April of 1955 .
