10000 1950c Lichfield
The first main-line diesel in Britain was built by the LMS in 1947. No.10000 heads north through Lichfield with an Up Class C express freight in 1950, still with the original cast steel ‘LMS’ letters on the lower bodyside. These were removed in March 1951 and replaced by the first version of the standard British Railways emblem.
