Not a well photographed location. Peter Kerslake writes "I took this shot from the roadbridge at the eastern side of the station in the early 'fifties, with M7 30035 as station pilot making up stock for an outgoing working.
This was the Southern Region terminus at Plymouth, and the whole site is now a Retail Park.
Southern Region trains leaving here would run on the "triangle" past the Western Region shed at Laira before joining that Region's main line from Paddington at Lipson Junction and then running "the wrong way" through North Road station before taking the Southern line via Okehampton to Exeter and beyond."
