Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Hughes Railmotor No. 11. Built at Horwich in February 1907 and withdrawn in Nov. 1935 as LMS No. 10608. The enchantingly named Triangle Station is the scene for L&Y Railmotor No. 11. The faded postcard from which this charming image was restored indicates a date circa 1910. Triangle is about the halfway point of the ill-fated 3.5 mile branch that climbed up the River Ryburn valley from Sowerby Bridge in the Calder Valley to Rishworth. Opened in 1881 the branch was never profitable and closed in stages from 1929 to 1958. Some of the route is a little-used but picturesque public footpath resembling a swampy jungle trek in parts!
The LYR six wheeled coaches standing in the other road were probably in long term storage - the branch being operated as a single line at this date.
