30330 1949 Grateley Down Sidings
London & South Western Railway designed Urie 'H15' class 4-6-0 No. 30330. Built at Eastleigh in October 1924 as SR No. 330 and withdrawn in May 1957.
The twenty six purposeful-looking 'S15s' were built over a 12-year period, five were actually rebuilds of earlier Drummond 'F13s' including 30330 seen here in 1949 retaining its original 8-wheel tender. This scene is in the down sidings at Grateley in Hampshire with 30330 bringing water in two old tenders to supply Grately Station! The Southern Railway obviously spared no expense in re-painting the L&SWR sign!
