Working from Northampton SP. There were always a couple of pairs of 25s kept busy between Rugby, Northampton and Bletchley on PW trains from Far Cotton and coal traffic to Northampton Power Station at the time. Whilst coupled to 25174 this loco was hit by runaway wagons at Aylesbury on 5th August 1976. Both locos were moved to Cricklewood where 25030 was withdrawn, both locos being moved to Derby Works for component recovery.
