E50xx 1966c Victoria

An E5000 electric departs from Victoria with the Newhaven boat train as a sister loco runs light out of the station after arrival with the 'Night Ferry', date not recorded. Interestingly the overhead current collection 'Pan' is not fitted to one of the pair.
Robert Waterman adds the details "I would put the date as c1966. In the early 1960s the SR 'Hornbys' more normally handled this train and departed from platforms 15 - 17 on the 'Brighton' side of the station. This is departing from either platform 7 or 8 (the most common Folkestone /Dover boat train departure platforms) on the South Eastern side of the station which became common during the mid-1960s. The train is in the process of crossing from the up South Eastern relief road to the down Brighton slow road. The Brighton 'fast' could not be accessed until the country side of Clapham Junction station. "
