LMS 4P 2-6-4T No 42581 at Windermere in c1960. Unusual for a tank engine to be facing bunker first towards Kendal and Oxenholme, as reportedly drivers preferred to be travelling chimney-first up the incline from Kendal to Oxenholme to keep the boiler plugs well covered by water on the steep grade.
