On 30th September 1961 C class 0-6-0 31716 departs Sharnal Street for Gravesend with Maunsell pull-push set 619 in tow. The station building was situated on the 'up' side of the line but when first built (and until 1935) this was the only platform at the station. Note flat-bottom rails on the through lines - necessary to carry the heavy oil traffic - but also that the dead-end siding has similarly been re-laid. Some sections were also equipped with concrete sleepers for the same reason. The loop at this station was extended in 1934, at the same time as the 'down' platform was provided. The station building is of timber clapboard construction, with typical SER arc-roofed canopy. Since closure to passengers the station has been demolished.
