69099 1955-04 Hull Dairycoates MPD
The small class of only twenty NER 'U' (LNER 'N10') 0-6-2 Tanks were built in 1902 to Wilson Worsdell's design. They were more powerful than the 'J71' and 'J72' 0-6-0T classes and were mostly deployed on freight shunting duties. 69099 is pictured here in April 1955 at the ex-NER Hull Dairycoates MPD. Note the horseshoe hung from the smokebox top lamp bracket! Perhaps 69099's 'Target 22' working needed a dose of good luck?
