1830 1924 Lincoln
Great Eastern Railway J. Holden 'S46' or 'Claud Hamilton' (LNER D15') class 4-4-0 No. 1830. Built at Stratford in March 1908 , rebuilt to class 'D16/3' in March 1940 and withdrawn in February 1958 as BR No. 62561.
This view at Lincoln is just into the LNER era and 1830 has already lost its GER cabside numberplate and the cast GER coat of arms on the leading splasher. It has occurred to me that with the exceptions of Carlisle and York, Lincoln probably saw locomotives from the most number of pre-grouping companies in Britain. That's one to have a think about!
