Ex-Great Eastern Railway J.Holden/Gresley 'D16/2' class 4-4-0 No. 62530 (pilot). Built at Stratford in May 1902 as GER No. 1879 and withdrawn in September 1958. BR Riddles 'Standard Britannia' class 4-6-2 No. 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' (train). Built at Crewe in May 1951, withdrawn in August 1968 and preserved.

Leaving Cambridge Station in March 1953 62530 is piloting the now preserved 'Oliver Cromwell'. James Holden's 'D14' then 'D15' and latterly 'D16' 4-4-0s were, in their original guise, the famous 'Claud Hamilton' class, flagship locomotives of the Great Eastern Railway. The story of the subsequent rebuilding, modification, experimentation and upgrading of these locomotives is worthy of a book! This story that began in 1900, would end in September 1960 when the last 'D16/3' was withdrawn. Needless to say, 'Oliver Cromwell' is still very much alive!
