D113 1962 Leeds City

BR 45 1Co-Co1 No D113 with an up express leaves Leeds City station, probably on the ex-Midland route south in 1962. Above the second coach is the woefully decrepit roof of the station prior to its second rebuilding in 1962. It had been rebuilt previously in 1938. The large building under construction is British Railways House (now City House). Designed by disgraced (found guilty of bribery to gain contracts) architect John Poulson, it provided BR with administrative buildings.
