‘4-EPB’ No. 5226 at Blackfriars in plain blue livery with full yellow ends, indicating a date in the late 1960a. These units were introduced in 1951 with a new type of self-lapping brake, new standard electrical equipment and electro-pneumatic brakes, hence the ‘EPB’ designation. The three terminal platforms at the station are all occupied, and visible on the left is the lattice girder bridge of the original 1864 bridge.
