Ex-North Eastern Railway Raven 'Z' (LNER 'C7' ) class 4-4-2 No. 2193. Built at Darlington in December 1914 as NER No. 2193 and withdrawn in August 1948 still as LNER No. 2978.

A quiet moment at Edinburgh's Haymarket MPD catches handsome 2193 basking in May 1931 sunshine. One of Les Hanson's earliest railway photographs, it's a lovely period portrait. What a shame that having survived to enter BR stock, it was scrapped in the days before preservation groups had been formed.
