Ex-North Eastern Railway Raven 'Z' (LNER 'C7') class 4-4-2 No. 706. Built by NBL of Glasgow in July 1911 as NER No. 706 and withdrawn in December 1946.

This is the class prototype of Sir Vincent Raven's 'Z' Atlantics, of which fifty were built up to 1918. The North Eastern Railway had running rights from Berwick through to Edinburgh over NBR metals and shared servicing facilities at Haymarket MPD where we see 706 in August 1937.
