North Eastern Railway Worsdell 'V' (LNER'C6') class 4-4-2 No. 295. Built at Gateshead in June 1904 and withdrawn in March 1944 as LNER No. 295. The seldom-photographed York North stabling point was (approximately) where the NRM's building is at its closest to York Station. The dapper young man pictured here in June 1908, is dwarfed by the very impressive lines of 295 whose cylinders are as big as he is!
