732 1925c York

732 1925c York

With a couple of fish vans leading the train NER C7 Atlantic No 732 at York in about 1925.
On the Up main just approaching the bridge where the ECML crosses Leeman Road (so north of the NRM). It's the same location as the Cecil Ord view of A1 2571. The houses in the background are on Garfield Terrace, there are now houses on the side of the road nearest the railway so you can't see these any more from Ord's position. I hope he kept a good look-out as he seems to have had his back to the Down main...
In the far left background you can just make out a gasholder, part of the NER's own coal gas works. (They also had an oil gas plant for carriage lighting but this was much nearer the station).
