701 1930s York
On a gloomy 1930s day at York Station, a southbound departure has double-headed ex-NER locomotives in charge. A Worsdell V/09 (LNER 'C6') Atlantic No. 701 is the pilot whilst the train loco is Worsdell M (LNER 'D17/1') 4-4-0 No. 1636. This combo would normally have the 4-4-0 taking the pilot role. 701 was built at Darlington in July 1910 and was withdrawn in Aug. 1944. 1636 was a Gateshead product of Nov. 1893 and was withdrawn in Oct. 1938.
