1940 1973 Reading

A threat to the Westerns, she was ETH fitted. When the Britannia bridge across the Menai Straits connecting mainland Wales and Anglesey was serious damaged by fire causing the main line to Holyhead to be closed, 1940 was one of three Class 47's stranded at Holyhead, the others being D1724 and D1851.
