Up oil train of 100 Ton tanks with a Stratford Type 4 in charge.David, J, Hayes adds Looks very much like the same service as that seen elsewhere taken at Aldermaston, which appeared to have a 6E37/38 headcode and that I thought may have originated from Newbury. However, as of the May 1974 Conditional WTT (post dating this image), 6E37 was shown as the 17:15 departure from Theale to Ripple Lane or West Thurrock, which may have also applied to a certain degree when this picture was taken. and Further to my earlier comment, a recently acquired WTT for 1972 shows 6E37 running more-or-less as mentioned earlier, as the 17:10 SSuX empties from Theale to West Thurrock (MWO)/Purfleet (TThFO). It departed Theale at 17:15 SO for Ripple Lane, where it was staged over the weekend
