David Barrett says "Definitely not the Continental, that would be more likely to have been Class 37 hauled at the time. This photograph depicts 2J05 which was the only regular daytime Locomotive Hauled service between Sheffield and Lincoln after almost everything else became D.M.U. workings. The train departed Sheffield Victoria at 15.45 and returned from Lincoln in the evening at 18.33 as 2G20 as detailed in the 1964/65 Working Timetable. With effect from 14.06.1965 concurrent with the opening of Retford's Low Level Platforms the train was cut back to operate Sheffield-Retford High Level only with a D.M.U. Connexion from, but not to Lincoln. I suspect that van traffic and posssibly exchange with E.C.M.L. was the prime consideration with this particular train hence Locomotive Haulage. There is another photograph of this Locomotive at Lincoln, most likely on the same occasion but further along the platform and taken from the opposite direction displaying 2G20 in preparation for its return to Sheffield".
