BR 47 Co-Co No D1841 with the 10.00 Glasgow Buchanan Street-Aberdeen between Blackford and Gleneagles on 27 August 1965.
Sandy Smeaton says "When the Brush Type 4's or Class 47's first appeared north of Glasgow in late 1964, they worked the 10.00 Buchanan St-Aberdeen and the 15.30 West Coast Postal back. I think it came off at Perth and would later work one of the Euston overnight trins south. This was also a fill in turn for engines working into Glasgow on freights. The schedule of the 10.00 was not very demanding for a Type 4, but we had two runs on the 15.30 in December '64 between Forfar and Perth and D1634 gave us 90mph after Glamis on the first. 84mph was the highest on the second with the same loco."
