A brand new Crewe-built Brush Type '4' No. D1572 at Barton & Broughton heading back to Crewe on 31st March 1964 with the regular 1Z10 test train for new locomotives, which ran as required between Crewe and Carlisle. The acceptance tests used up to 20 vehicles, this one being a 15-coach rake of elderly Stanier LM&SR stock. No. D1572's first posting was to Leeds Holbeck. It became No. 47017 under TOPS and was finally withdrawn in March 1991 after several periods in store.
